The 2016 top 5 subjects students get most tutored for

The 2016 top 5 subjects students get most tutored for Every parent wants their child to succeed academically and a private tutor is often the best way to secure this success. Children and teens are tutored throughout the year in an array of different subjects and for many different reasons. It may be that they need some extra help understanding homework or school-work, that they have important exams coming up or they just want to stay ahead. But what subjects are people looking to get tutored in the most? First Tutors decided to review some data to see which subjects are most commonly tutored for. Our statistics are taken for the year 2016 in the UK and look at the number of tutors hired for the different subject. We also explored the different levels of each subject: Primary Secondary GCSE A-level University Casual/Adult learner According to our statistics Maths is by far the most popular subject for tutoring needs with English as the second most tutored subject and then the sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Biology). {{graph-11}} 1. Maths Maths can be a difficult subject for many students depending greatly on the way their brain processes information. Finding a tutor that specialises and has a passion in the subject your child needs help with is vitally important. A good tutor will break down any problems and assess the best way to explain things to your child. The chart below clearly shows that GCSE Maths is the subject that students need the most help with. Whether it be understanding different Maths techniques or help with exam preparation, tutors in GCSE Maths are highly in demand. {{graph-5}} A-level Maths comes in close with many students requiring extra attention in this complex subject. Primary and Secondary Maths are also high in demand where parents want to ensure their children grasp the basics of Maths from an early age so that they will not struggle as they get older. As you can see from our chart Maths tutors are also hired for University Maths and even for casual/adult learners. 2. English English is a world-wide language and is the governing international language in business, science, entertainment, aviation as well as the internet. Learning English well is a life-long benefit and regardless of your area of expertise having good English skills will always contribute to your success. This plays a large part in the reasons English was the second most tutored subject after Maths. English tutors are able to break down the learning process so that children can grasp concepts easier and English is something that children start learning from a very young age. This being so it is not surprising that Primary English was the second most tutored level for English. {{graph-6}} GCSE English is the top of the levels for English tutoring which is to be expected given the high importance of this particular GCSE. Many parents seek the help of a private tutor for their children from a young age to ensure that their child grasps the foundations of English before heading to high school where it becomes more difficult. A-level English is also a very popular subject followed closely by Secondary English which of course leads up to those all important GCSE's. Adult English tutors are also very popular especially amongst those learning English as a second language or for those studying English at Degree level. 3. Chemistry Chemistry is an important subject helping students develop important skills such as problem solving, research and analytical skills. Communication skills will naturally be enhanced as Chemistry often requires teamwork. Chemistry is known by some as the 'central science' because it connects physical sciences with applied sciences. A good A-level grade in Chemistry will help secure you a place to study medicine, chemical engineering or many other courses which is probably why Chemistry tutors come in third most popular, with A-level Chemistry being the most tutored for level in this subject. {{graph-7}} A private Chemistry tutor will provide students with a chance to enhance their knowledge in the subject or better understand more complex topics, guiding the student through parts that they have found difficult. GCSE Chemistry is the second most popular level taught privately followed by Secondary level Chemistry whilst private tutors are hot for University Chemistry too. 4. Physics Physics is a challenging subject at all levels with the higher levels becoming more difficult. A Physics tutor will provide great hands-on experiences with their students explaining complex topics and difficult-to-understand concepts. Qualifications in Physics are very well regarded by employers and good grades in A-levels will also ensure higher chances of further study at a place of your choice. Just as with Chemistry, Physics A-level tutors are the highest sought-after with GCSE Physics tutors also in very high demand. {{graph-8}} University Physics is considerably high and tutors are also hired for Secondary level Physics in preparation for higher levels. 5. Biology Biology is made up of many, many branches and helps students develop an understanding of both basic and complex forms of life. Biology helps with comprehending the intricate details of life on our planet in humans, animals and plants and perceiving our environment in proper detail. High grades in both GCSE and A-level Biology are important for anyone wishing to study a degree in marine studies or medicine. A-level Biology tutors are high in demand with almost two thirds of tutors teaching A-level. GCSE Biology tutors are also very popular and again Secondary Biology is a subject many children seek the help of a private tutor for. {{graph-9}} Many students studying sciences at University also employ a private tutor to ensure they achieve their target grades, help with exam preparation and deeper understanding of the more complex themes. The top tutored subjects with levels Looking at our five most tutored for subjects I took took the chance to see the top ten most tutored for subjects with the different levels they are studied at. The following chart shows the most popular tutored subjects according to the levels required: {{graph-12}} As we can see from the above chart GCSE Maths is the most tutored for subject in 2016 according to our statistics. According to wham.com (the online magazine for work-at-home moms) Online Maths tuition is also top of their list for most popular subjects for online learning, stating: The subject most requested for tutoring online is math. It can be the most challenging subject for students and parents who may not have done well in that area. High schoolers especially request math tutoring, because it gets much harder in grades 9-12, and their options of getting help from people around them decreases dramatically. Even students who do well in math need help now and then and could benefit from one-on-one tutoring. Other popular tutoring subjects Of course tutors are hired for a massive array of different subjects and levels. The chart below shows the ten next most tutored for subjects after Maths, English and the sciences: {{graph-10}} Economics, History and Psychology along with Entrance exams and Law make up our top ten subjects for tutoring help. Not surprisingly these subjects were highly tutored for GCSE and A-levels except for Entrance Exam tutors which were primarily hired for Primary school ages and Law tutors that were mainly for University students. Language tutors in French and Spanish are also high in demand especially for GCSE exams. Business and Geography tutors are primarily for A-level and University students, whilst tutors in IT teach at GCSE and University level. To Conclude As we can see from our statistics, tutors are high in demand as achieving good grades, accomplishing further education and having a good career has become evermore competitive. Tutors have become a vital addition to education helping children stay ahead, build their confidence and grow academically. First Tutors can help you find the right tutor for your child as they progress through their primary years and right up until university. We give the control over to you providing you with everything you need from tutor qualifications, experience, their rates and even their proximity to your home. A good private tutor can mean the difference between a struggling and unhappy child and a flourishing and confident one.

What is it Like to Attend University of Missouri-St. Louis

What is it Like to Attend University of Missouri-St. Louis The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Nathan is a St. Louis tutor specializing in SAT prep tutoring, Calculus tutoring, all levels of Algebra tutoring, and more. He is currently a senior at University of Missouri-St. Louis majoring in Math Education. Check out his review of his school: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Nathan: UMSL is a much more commuter-based school; there are two campuses, North and South. Both campuses are connected to the Metrolink, but I take my car on most days as it's a lot more convenient. I feel pretty safe on campus, though there are some parts or some times where it is less safe. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Nathan: This really depends on the professor or staff member you are talking about. On one end, I've had a professor willing to email all the students and set up meetings outside of class that weren't office hours, and on the other, I've had a professor who never replied to email and only held office hours. The academic advisers usually meet by appointment only, but the Friday walk-in is a viable option as well. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Nathan: I actually don't know much about the dorm life as I live off campus. The dining options are much better on North campus, though, with South campus trying to catch up. As far as socialization, it's pretty easy to find your interests represented on campus and if not, the process to make a group is fairly straightforward. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Nathan: UMSL is touted as a business school; that being said, though, I haven't actually met many Business majors in my day to day adventures on campus. Then again, I'm mainly on South campus where I study Middle School Education because I love to teach and help people. I know there are a couple of student groups, such as Nursing and Business, and overall there is a good amount of support from the university toward all areas of studies. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Nathan: While I did not go to UMSL as a freshman, it was fairly easy for me to make acquaintances and friends both in and out of class. I belong to a couple of clubs currently and I have a lot of friends in my major. I don't see much of Greek life participation, but I know that they do quite a bit around both the campus and community. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Nathan: The Career Center hosts many classes for free as well as a lot of Job Fairs and support for the students. There is also a Nursing/Health center, a Recreational Center, and other awesome forms of support provided. I have always had a good deal of success when dealing with any department. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Nathan: They are pretty useful, with a lot of computers and quiet areas. The staff and resources both online and offline are very useful, and questions are answered promptly. The student union is a great resource as well; it helps advertise events and is a solid meeting place for most of the clubs on campus. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Nathan: UMSL is located near the airport in a county of St. Louis known as Normandy. It's an okay community, with a few places to eat but not much to do. Most students will take the Metrolink or their cars elsewhere to socialize. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Nathan: I believe the student body is about 16,000 people, but it really doesn't feel like a large number. I tend to see the same people a good amount of the time, and with the advantage of taking some freshman classes, I know a fair amount of people outside of my major. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Nathan: My best teacher wanted us to call her 'WB. She was one of my Education teachers. She truly cared about each one of us succeeding beyond the scope of her class and wanted to make sure we had the ideas that she made very enjoyable. She also took myself and another student for a tour around McCluer North High School to get an idea of what actually goes on in St. Louis schools. This experience was quite valuable to me as I moved away years ago and had no idea what to expect. My fellow students and I always call the really awesome assignments we create, WB style worksheets. Before you start, you’re going to have to ask yourself what kind of cooking you’re best at and what you’re going to teach your students.Just like making macarons, you need to prepare your cooking lessons. (Source: pixel2013)Are you an expert at Japanese cooking or making sushi? A pastry chef or a baking expert? Are you going to teach easy everyday recipes? Will you need to adopt a hands on approach? What are the ingredients you're going to use? Are you going to follow a cookbook or use your own recipes? You'll need to think long and hard about your lessons. If you work with other chefs in a culinary school or as part of a teachers' network, you’ll be able to offer a broad range of classes, something a cooking te acher on their own wouldn’t be able to do.Once you’ve worked out what you’re doing and budding chefs are knocking on your door, you’re going to have to work out exactly how you’re going to teach your students in a fun and engaging way. While your students won't expect you to behave like you were in a culinary school, you'll have to find the balance between how much they enjoy your lessons and how much they learn. You have to instil your students with a sense of confidence. Not every student will learn at exactly the same speed and they won’t all respond to your advice and teaching in the same way. You’ll obviously need teaching skills in order to help your students understand your classes and you’ll need to adapt each class to the student. At the end of the day, you want to give your students a better understanding of nutrition and the culinary arts, an opportunity to try tasty new foods and cooking methods, and to gain fundamental cooking skills.Discover our best tips for teaching appealing cooking classes!Pay Attention to Time ManagementDuring your cooking classes, time management is essential. You can’t plan a dish that takes an hour to cook if your lessons only last half an hour. That said, you could always get students to chop the vegetables before the class or bring fresh pasta (which takes less time to cook), for example. The key to a good cooking lesson is timing. (Source: ACasualPenguin)To get the most out of each lesson, you should make your recipe for your friends or family members before you teach the class to a paying student.Consider timing yourself so you can see how long each part of the lesson takes and how long you’ll need for the whole lesson or workshop.Keep in mind that making a simple dish might not be enough for a cooking class. While your cooking knowledge is useful, the whole lesson can’t rely on it. Teaching skills, like explaining what to do and transferring all that knowledge you have, are also really important. If you're teaching kids cooking, you'll have to allocate time to showing them the basics of kitchen safety, for example. If you're running a team building exercise, keep in mind that your students probably have other things to do once they're finished.  Ensure you finish on time.Testing will help you see which concepts work and give you an opportunity to better organise your lessons. You can also get feedback from friends and family and perfect your methodology. In fact, our closest friends and family members can often be far more brutally honest than strangers. Some advice, like avoiding “lulls”, might seem obvious once somebody’s pointed them out. You could use the time things are cooking to answer students’ questions, for example. You should outline your objectives at the beginning of the lesson so that you don’t drown in questions when you’re preparing the food. Don't forget to establish the rules so you can keep control of your class, too.Why not read our complete guid e to preparing a cooking lesson?End the Cooking Class with a Bit of FunYou should make sure that your students enjoy every one of your classes. This is especially important for kids classes since they probably won't even be thinking about whether or not they learnt a new skill. Cooking with kids can be a completely different beast to cooking with teens or adults.Your students should try whatever they make at the end of the class. (Source: pixel2013)Students should learn new skills, gain confidence in the kitchen, and have an enjoyable learning experience. Every class should end with a bit of fun so that students want to keep coming back.Think about setting aside some time for the students to try the food that they prepared during the class. When it comes to cooking, tasting the food is one of the best ways to get better at cooking and see what each student should be focusing on. We cook so we can eat, after all, don’t we?You should always be honest with your students. If one of th em got something wrong, lying to them won’t help them get better. If they’re novices, they probably won’t have noticed it themselves. If you have to give them some feedback, you should stay positive and tell them where they’re going wrong (how long they cooked it for, seasoning, dressing, etc.). Remind them that a chef can always improve and there's no harm in making mistakes. After you’ve tasted the food, you can spend the last few minutes of the class to have a friendly chat and an exchange of ideas between the students. Since not everyone in your class is going to be an expert chef, they’ll each have their different tastes and ways of cooking. This is also a good way to establish a rapport with your students. Ask them which parts of your lesson they liked and which parts they didn’t.You need to consider how long you’re going to spend doing this during your lessons so that your lesson doesn’t finish late since both you and your students might have something to do afterwards. Make sure you stick to your lesson plan and schedule as the teacher of the class.Discover some of the best ways to plan a cooking class!Create a Bond with Your StudentsDon’t forget that your cooking classes go well beyond the classes themselves. If you want your students’ loyalty, you’ll have to go the extra mile outside of class. You should consider filming your cooking and putting it on YouTube. (Source: emkanicepic)Whether you’ve given a bakery class, basic cooking class, wine pairing class, or gourmet cuisine workshop, why not give your students a summary with the main ingredient and the cooking techniques they’ll be focusing on in their next lesson? You could also send the recipes and the techniques they need to focus on for the next class via email. This is good for enthusiastic students who like to prep before lessons. You can also create your own teaching resources and send your students videos showing the techniques you’ve taught or are going to teach. This gives enthusiastic students an opportunity to learn to cook a recipe from scratch on their own (since you won't always be there to help them).  Your students might find videos on cooking poultry, baking cakes and pies, or knife skills really useful.Find some cooking  online tutoring jobs  here. You have so many different ways to create a bond with your students: Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube can all be useful ways to give your students additional learning resources and menus they might be interested in.You can also make your culinary classes and workshops more interesting by offering prizes to the best students and making the classes more appealing. In short:While there’s no such thing as a perfect class since every student is different, your classes should be engaging and enjoyable.Firstly, try out teaching techniques and recipes with people you know before using them in classes and workshops with paying students.Preparation is key. Planning ahead can help you manage your tim e better in each of your lessons.Make effective use of the lulls in your lessons while things cook so that your students get the most out of every minute with you.You should use the end of your lessons for exchanging ideas. Give your students a chance to share their homemade creations and useful information. Get the students to eat their food, get feedback on it from other students, and try and work out for themselves what a recipe might need. While a demonstration detailing where they went wrong could be useful, most students will learn how to cook if you guide them towards discovery rather than directly telling them.Once the class is over, you should maintain a link with your students. You can share feedback and practical tips with them over the internet. You can also create your own resources or use existing teaching resources to help students study between classes and prepare themselves for the next lesson. You could even set up a virtual cooking school (on a blog or website) wh ere your students can help each other to learn.

They provide more powerful and warm sounds than the smaller guitars. This information is very practical for acoustic guitars (classical or folk). On the other hand, I advise against buying an electric guitar until your child is of age to play on a standard size. Smaller size electric guitars are not usually well made, and any guitar player will notice that it is not the best guitar.  Kelsey’s Advice For Buying Your First Classical, Folk and Electric GuitarThe Classical Guitar: Some Buying RecommendationsSizes 1/4 and 1/2 for children 5 - 8 years oldFor children 5 - 10 years old, the price margin will be between $60 - $150.YAMAHA CGS102A - 1/2 and 1/4 Guitar$120The Yamaha brand is, in my eyes, the reference in terms of children’s guitars size 1/4 and 1/2. The rosewood fingerboard and bridge illustrate Yamaha’s desire to offer an instrument with impeccable quality at an economic price.LYONS Classroom 1/4 Guitar$67This is a good compromise to start at a low price point and an early age! Very famous in the middle price range, their guitars are of excellent value for their price. These instruments astutely combine playing comfort and a warm sound.Size 4/4 for children from 10 - 11 years old to teenagers and adultsUnl ike children under 10 years of age, for teenagers and adults, a guitar will cost between $150 - $200.CORT AC200-OP$194I want to talk to you about CORT because I greatly appreciate this brand. As I said before, nothing to add, Yamaha is a good product!FENDER - CN90$230In addition to being the most affordable nylon string guitar from Fender, the CN-90 resonates with fantastic classical elegance, while adding real value. The Folk Guitar: Some Buying RecommendationsSizes 1/4 and 1/2 for children 5 - 8 years oldStagg Folk Blue Burst$110It is quite rare to find folk guitars in sizes 1/4 and 1/2. The STAGG brand offers this product for a little more than $100.Size 3/4 for children 8 - 10 years oldYAMAHA - FOLK 3/4 JR1$135We return once more to the YAMAHA brand. Here is a list of products that I recommend.  Between $100-200Between $200-300CORT - AD810EPIPHONE - EL-00 ProEPIPHONE - DR100IBANEZ - AEG1211-NTYAMAHA F335CORT - LUCE L100-OYAMAHA FG730S SUNBURSTYAMAHA - FG700STAKAMINE - GD10EPIPHONE - Hummingbird ProFENDER - CF60FENDER CD280SFENDER - CD140SIf you already have a specific brand or model of guitar that you want to buy, head on over to Guitar Center to find the guitar of your dreams! The Fe nder Sonoran has an atypical look that makes it an ideal guitar for beginners. This guitar is magnificent, it has a destroyed look and finishes, and an impeccable polish. This is an acoustic-electric folk guitar, which means it is equipped with a preamp for sound. I used this guitar when I first started and it is a real treat to begin with. The sleek maple neck on this electric guitar and its atypical look make it an ideal guitar to start guitar lessons.A major asset: its finishing is impeccable! The only downside: the bassThe Electric Guitar: Buying RecommendationsSizes 1/4 and 1/2 for children 5 - 8 years oldYou will find 1/4 and 1/2 guitars between $80 - $110.A reminder that at this age and with these dimensions, the guitars lean more towards the toy rather than the instrument. The sound quality is not yet a priority, hence the lower price.Size 3/4 for children 8 - 10 years oldFrom this age on, there is the Squier brand that offers guitar sets at very attractive prices, that is, less than $200. I do not recommend it. I have seen its shortcomings on several occasions with students. Inaccessible, unplayable, etc.First solution: Go with the Stagg brand which offers a finishing and sound that’s much less degraded than Squier’s.Impeccable quality should not be expected, but it works without problems and is in a reasonable price range, between $100 - $120.If you are looking for a guitar with a better range, IBANEZ offers 2 products:IBANEZ - GRGM21-BKNIBANEZ - GRGM21-WHSize 4/4 for adultsThe price of electric guitars for teens and adults can vary between $150 - $2000! It all depends on the style you decide to play. Each brand has its different series and styles of sound. The Fender guitar remains an essential reference in the field of electric guitars, in particular, the STRATOCASTER series. Adapted to many styles, this series is a real “Swiss Army knife” for guitar playing styles and all guitar lessons. You can also find very interesting products for less than $ 200:EPIPHONE - LES PAUL SPECIAL IIEPIPHONE - SG SPECIALIBANEZ GRX20ZCORT G110LAG - ARKANE66Feel free to follow these recommendations.I advise you, however, not to buy an electric guitar for your child until they are old enough to play on a standard size.Looking at buying your first guitar? We hope you find this helpful.Indeed, most of the time the models suited for younger children sound very bad. They are often unplayable and unreliable, with poor stability of tunings, poor acoustics, unreliable intonation, and wobbly guitar pickups.  All the Specifics That You Need to Know Before Buying Your First GuitarDreadnoughtJumboElectro-acoustic  Folk Dreadnought Guitars are the big guitars of cowboys with metal strings. It is the most versatile and popular type of folk guitar. Perfect for rhythm, it adapts well to fingerpicking and accompaniment. Its size, on the other hand, is quite a handicap for those small in stature and women.Jumbo Folk Guitars or more “classic” forms: it sounds p retty crystalline, with less bass than in a dreadnought. But playing it is more flexible; you can brush the chords or play with a pick. The size doesn't necessarily affect the playability.Folk Acoustic-Electric Guitar: you can also go with an acoustic-electric variant. Indeed, a classical or folk acoustic guitar is not equipped to be sounded loudly like an electric guitar. The acoustic-electric guitar is equipped with a preamp and a jack output. With or without microphones?Even if an acoustic guitar sounds without a microphone, it is necessary to amplify it when playing in a group of other loud instruments (electric guitar, piano, drums…)Therefore, some acoustic guitars are equipped with a microphone allowing them to connect directly with an amp (different from the amps for electric guitars). The microphone is different from that of the electric ones and is not seen: it is a sensor, integrated into the bridge. It is, therefore, a useful tool in the guitarist’s toolbox. Several opti ons are available to you when buying your guitar.Going to a specialized store to buy your guitarThese shops are the only places where, not only can you buy your guitar, but you can also test it before purchasing it. You can try it out and listen to the sound, etc.In addition to that, you could possibly get useful advice from a salesperson. At the very least, they may ask you questions that you have not yet asked yourself. And, more often than not, they will be guitar players who know their stuff - about guitar brands, guitar cases, types of electric guitar strings, a guitar amplifier, as well as anything else you might want to know about the body style.  For me, the guitar shop or guitar store is an ideal solution for making the purchase.Buying a guitar on the InternetThe Internet is a great place to quickly purchase a guitar. Keep in mind that you lose the benefit of trying it out in the store, as previously discussed. If you don't know the type of guitar that you want then maybe i t is not the best option. However, it remains a solution for those who cannot go to a store.Finding a pre-owned guitarBuying a used guitar allows for the possibility of paying a lower price than at the store or on the Internet and also negotiating with the seller.Another advantage is, with a little luck, you can meet with the seller and try out the guitar. This is a very positive point for seasoned guitarists, but I do not think that it’s good for a first purchase.More Advice For Buying Your First Guitar!Beware of beginner sets and low prices. Oftentimes these are not very advantageous. Being a beginner is not an excuse to buy a bad quality guitar. Specialized sellers will be able to advise you on the purchase of your first guitar. In short, to start playing the guitar, it is better to choose a classical or folk guitar. How to make the right choice? Follow the advice of your music teacher, but don’t forget to ask the right questions, whether for you or your child. You now know ab out different models to help guide you in your selection and you know the main characteristics of each guitar. It is important to recall the main advantages and disadvantages of the classical guitar and the folk guitar. The right choice is a personal decision. The Classical GuitarIn general, many teachers ask beginners, especially children, to start with this type of instrument. The reasons are simple:They are available in all sizesThe strings are evenly spaced so that finger placement is easier. But this can also be disadvantageous for working the bars… we can’t have everything! The frets are largeThe strings are flexible, which is more suited for children’s sensitive fingersThe price is attractive. Children grow up fast and it is true that you will have to buy several guitars as they grow bigger…that cost must be taken into account! On the other hand, the classical guitar cannot play all styles of music, but it still offers beautiful possibilities. Don’t you want to try flam enco? The Folk GuitarIf you are not afraid of hurting your fingers, you will certainly be drawn to the folk guitar. Yes, with its steel or bronze strings, the tips of your fingers will get callouses! However, once this detail is taken into consideration, the folk guitar does not lack assets:With a neck that is longer and narrower than the classical guitar, you will be able to work the bars and climb the treble more easilyYou will also be able to play various styles, including blues, folk, and even country… Yee-haw!By learning on a folk guitar, you can more easily switch to the electric guitar later on.In any case, think especially of your comfort when learning to play the guitar. Not to mention the sound, which remains a notable difference between these two types of acoustic guitars. The classical guitar will have a soft and warm sound, while the folk guitar will have a more metallic and crystalline sound. Choosing a guitar is also a matter of personal taste. The Essential Accessorie s that You  Cannot ForgetGuitar accessories? Yes, it’s not enough to just buy a guitar, you also have to think about the necessary accessories to help you play at your best! We do not alway think about that when we start…You don’t want to find yourself helpless with an untuned guitar, right? Or worse: a string-less guitar!Find out when and how to buy your next set of guitar strings  - and whether you need steel strings or nylon strings, Ernie Ball Slinky or Elixir. And say goodbye to back pain and bad posture with well-chosen accessories…So take a trip to your favorite music store and invest in all the tools that will be useful to you. No, I don’t push you to buy. You will see that these tips prove to be very helpful!Find out also how to choose the right strings for your guitar...The CaseCall it what you want - a gig bag or a guitar case - but you are going to need something to cover your musical instrument. Sometimes, these come in a beginner guitar pack, but not always.Th is is absolutely the first thing that you need to get with your first guitar. Otherwise, how are you going to get it to your friend's house for a jam session? How are you going to even get it out of the shop? The pickIt’s essential for strumming the strings, are you already perplexed by all of the options? There are all different sorts to choose from, how to decide? There are plastic, wood, metal and even glass picks. Each has its characteristics, but to start it’s better to choose a plastic pick since it’s easier to handle. On the other hand, for just a few cents you can have several models of different thickness (and also with a different rigidity). Let’s not forget what all guitarists will tell you: the pick is the accessory that is lost the most often. It is better to have a few on hand, to avoid spending an hour searching everywhere for it.The capodasterDon't forget essential accessories like the capo!If there is a necessary accessory it is the capodaster, or “capo” for the insiders. This bar that blocks the strings has two uses:It changes the pitch of the instrument to continue playing with the strings you know. This allows you to play faster without changing the position of your fingers. It avoids difficult positioning of fingers when bars and chords are not mastered. How to choose? There are two main variants. The classic capodaster that requires the use of both hands to be installed, and the spring capodaster that can be placed with one hand thanks to the spring system. What other accessories might you need? The tuner and the metronomeIt’s not always easy when you begin to tune your instrument by ear. Therefore, it is very useful to invest in a tuner, especially since it’s not very expensive. You can find one starting at $10. With a tuner, you will be able to make sure that the notes you play are correct. It’s also important to correctly follow the rhythm of the song. At first, you may not be able to keep track of the pace with your foot while playing properly. So let the metronome do this job for you and focus on the placement of your fingers. The metronome’s price is similar to the tuner: starting at $15.If you don’t like having too many objects, there are models that combine the tuner and metronome functions, in the $20 range. The footrest and strapCan’t find a good position to comfortably play the guitar?!It's important to adopt good posture when learning how to play!If your back is hurting from playing the guitar, it’s no wonder if you don’t have a footrest. You can always use a stack of books, a shoe box or any object that you have on hand, but the best thing to use is a footrest. In the price range of $10, it allows you to raise your foot to maintain the correct position without tiring yourself. To play standing (and even sitting), think of the guitar strap. When standing, the strap allows you to hold the guitar. When seated, it helps you secure the instrument.Caring For Your GuitarYou are now perfectly eq uipped. Before you leave, I can’t resist giving you a few last tips to take care of your new guitar. Admit that it would be a shame to ruin it…Rest assured, it is not complicated to take care of a guitar and knowing when to change the strings, just adopt some simple, but essential habits. The guitar’s enemy is the moisture in the air, otherwise known as humidity. Indeed, it should not be forgotten that guitars are made out of wood! One would tend to say that you must be wary of humidity, and while this is true, contrarily the main risk for an instrument is dryness. A guitar that retains moisture will swell, but regain its initial shape afterward. On the other hand, if it dries out too much, the wood shrinks and this is when problems appear: cracks, paint peeling off, etc…To avoid this, store your guitar in its case or cover and never leave it in direct light (especially sunlight), too close to a radiator or excessive heat source.Avoid leaving your first guitar on the beach, i n the sand and in the sun!The strings tend to oxidize. I’m not talking about the classical nylon guitar string, but those of the folk guitar. Metallic strings are also sensitive and not to be neglected. They tend to oxidize with sweaty fingers. To avoid this:Wash your hands before playingAfter playing, clean the strings and under the strings with a soft clothWhen you change the strings, take this time to clean the tuning pegs, on the neck and each fret (metal bars). If the wood is not varnished, dust and deposit risk inlaying the wood. For a gentle cleaning, you will need a soft cloth that’s slightly wet with hot water and a few drops of dishwashing soap. Rub gently to remove dirt encrusted along the frets. Also, think about oiling the key to protect it.In your favorite music store, you will find many products specifically designed for the maintenance of your guitar. Fast Fret is one of the most famous. As a cleaner and lubricant, it protects the strings and key, helping them st ay clean and shiny longer. This prevents the sound quality of your guitar from deteriorating. It’s easy to apply, but you must remember to use the product regularly. Finally, the varnish of the body can be attacked under the effect of perspiration. Also, remember to clean it regularly with a soft cloth. Now that you have the essential information, it’s time to buy your first guitar. The first guitar also usually goes along with guitar lessons. Find a guitar teacher here on SuperPROFAnd one day you could end up playing the guitar onstage… who knows? To get you started, why not consider taking private lessons.  Searching for guitar lessons London  produces the most results on Superprof but there is a lot more choice if you're willing to learn online. If you've chosen a bass guitar, then you might want to opt for bass guitar lessons.

Fortunately for you, there are many talented tutors on Superprof who can help you. In terms of private Italian tutorials, there are three main types: face-to-face tutorials, online tutorials, and group tutorials.Face-to-face tutorials involve just the student and their tutor and are tailored to the former. Your tutor can work with your strengths and weaknesses and put together a programme for you. These tutorials tend to be the most costly but they're also the most cost-effective.Online tutorials are similar but you're not in the same place as your tutor. Thanks to the internet, webcams, and video conferencing, you can learn a language online. Online tutors tend to charge less than face-to-face tutors because they have fewer outgoings and expenses and can schedule more tutorials each week. Finally, gro up tutorials include groups of students learning together. If you and a group of friends, such as your travel companions, want to learn some Italian before you go, you can get group tutorials. With each student sharing the cost of the tutor's time, this type of tutorials tends to work out cheaper per person per hour.
